Br. Paul Bednarczyk, C.S.C, was elected new Superior General of the Congregation, following a historical vote – it is the first time that a Brother is elected Superior General – during the General Chapter which took place this summer, and came to Le Mans to spend a few days here at the end of August-beginning of September.

During his stay, he was able to observe the progress of the work in the church and discuss with the team of the Shrine on the upcoming projects, especially the 150th anniversary of Father Moreau’s death. He also attended several Masses, including Sunday Mass, during which he addressed a few words to the parishioners.

Here is what he shares with us today:

“It was only appropriate for my first visit outside of Rome as Superior General to be to Le Mans, France, the cradle foundation of the Congregation of Holy Cross.

I felt the need to pray at the tomb of our Founder, Blessed Basile Moreau, for the members of Holy Cross worldwide and for the grace to be faithful to his vision and charism for the Congregation as I begin my ministry of leadership.”
